Xavier Guilmin

Researcher 2021 2026

Xavier Guilmin is an environmental sociologist. The research he contributes to focuses primarily on the socio-technical challenges of environmental and land-use management (waste, resources, soil, pollution, ecosystem functions etc.). After more than ten years developing sustainable development and socio-environmental innovation projects within a Brussels local administration, he joined Louise to coordinate the Carbone project with Simon De Muynck from 2021 to 2024 (an experimental action-research project by Innoviris; local re-circularization of green waste streams in Brussels). Since then, he has been working part-time on the ArchiSols project, which aims to explore issues related to soil conditions in Brussels (pollution, quality, management, land use, etc.) through the exploration and analysis of archives and data pertaining to historical productive activities. At the same time, he works at ERU-Urbanisme, a consulting firm specializing in urban planning, where he applies his expertise to territorial development in Brussels and Wallonia. Through his various projects, he prioritizes a transdisciplinary and participatory approach to address contemporary urban, ecological, and climate challenges.
