Cases from Athens and Brussels for Integrated Urban Stormwater Management and citizen engagement
Alcestis Rodi (Department of Architecture, University of Patras) From Forma Urbis to Forma Horti. Blue-Green Rooftops as the new urban ground
Andrea Aragone (ULB) Gradients of Wetness. Domestic gardens as rainwater testing grounds
The seminar focuses on comparing different approaches to citizen involvement in the implementation of Nature-Based Solutions across diverse urban contexts, with particular attention to stormwater-oriented NbS and blue-green infrastructure. Drawing on action-research experiences in the Brussels-Capital Region and Athens, the seminar invites reflection on how distinct urban morphologies and socio-economic conditions shape both the design of context-specific NbS devices and the participatory processes through which they are developed and implemented.
